The second ICCA Association Impact Masterclass guided association leaders in building a theory of change aligned with their mission.

At the BestCities Global Forum in Dublin, association leaders took part in the second ICCA Association Impact Masterclass. Facilitated in part by Geneviève Leclerc and Gary Grimmer, the programme offered a structured method for moving from general ambition to a genuine impact strategy.

Participants examined their purpose, the changes they wanted to create, the groups affected and the activities capable of producing those changes. A theory-of-change approach helped them connect the association’s mission more clearly with the role of congresses, members and local partners.

The exercise also supported peer learning. Organizations from different sectors compared challenges, tested assumptions and identified the resources needed to follow outcomes beyond the event itself.

The masterclass demonstrates that impact is not limited to large organizations with extensive resources. A clear method, realistic priorities and committed partners can help any association direct its events more effectively and explain the value they create.
